The Board has the responsibility for registering all qualified professional engineers. To date, 3,674 professional engineers and 1,042 engineering firms are registered by Rhode Island.

Highlights

During the fiscal year, the Board held 11 meetings with the following results: 255 applications were processed: 245 applicants were registered as professional engineers (222 by comity and 23 by examination), 60 applicants were registered as engineers-in-training (59 by examination, 1 by comity).

Certificates of Authorization (C.O.A.'s) were granted to

• Twenty -two (22) Sole Proprietors
• Fifty-three (53) Corporations/Professional Corporations
• Zero (0) Partnership
• One (1) Limited Liability Partnerships
• Seventeen (17) Limited Liability Corporations

The Board

• Formally opened eleven (11) complaints.
• Initiated a number of actions against individuals and firms who were unregistered, and therefore engaged in the unauthorized practice of engineering.
